JUMPING THE GATE ON THE T
Scofflaws' fiscal impact is stunning
THE MILLIONS of dollars the T loses to fare evaders is stunning. I realize that the T does expect to lose some money annually from fare evaders, but "between $11 million and $19 million" a year is outrageous.
The T boasts about how much ridership is up, but neglects to mention this dirty little secret. I have been riding the T, and paying, for 40 years, and have seen this problem and many others reoccur year after year. Vision, leadership, and the concept of being fiscally responsible are something the T seems unable to grasp. When will it ever change?
