Celts, Pistons set a fine standard

June 4, 2008

ALL BASKETBALL fans can cheer the teamwork and tenacity displayed during the series between the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons.

What was especially striking, however, was the respect - and even love - evident between the well-matched adversaries.

Kevin Garnett, for instance, is the godfather of one of Chauncey Billups's children.

While we celebrate the Celtics victory, let's also celebrate the players' ability to be tough as nails on the court, and brothers after the final buzzer.

This is the hallmark of true champions, and our kids need more of these kinds of role models.
