Obama-Lincoln mural is an uneasy melding

THE MURAL "Abraham Obama" ("Street artist inspires too much enthusiasm," Page A1, July 8) caused controversy not because it stirred the unauthorized posting of promotional material for the artist, but because it makes a comparison that the presidential candidate does not deserve. With his mural, Ron English compares the presidential candidate who makes nice-sounding speeches about change to the man who led our nation through a Civil War and helped free 4 million slaves, then died for it. Portraying Barack Obama over the face of Lincoln is disrespectful. Maybe it would be acceptable to do this if Obama is actually elected, but until then, the only similarities they have is that they are two politicians from Illinois. Obama seems to be a decent presidential candidate. If I were old enough, I would certainly vote for him. However, his ignorant fan base makes me sick.
