Afghanistan buildup would be a mistake

WITH BOTH Barack Obama and John McCain pushing for a US troop buildup in Afghanistan, it was refreshing to read Howard Zinn's thoughtful piece on why this would be a tragic mistake. Our increasing military involvement will only lead to more terror, more deaths, all with no end in sight. Afghanistan is a poor, war-torn country, and it would be smart for the United States to work for a power-sharing government among the various warring groups - the Pashtuns, Northern Alliance, etc. Along with nation-building, this is the way to ensure a peaceful Afghanistan.
