MAYOR MENINO had better build that new City Hall in Southie quick, before he runs off all of the tourists and suburbanites who want to pretend to be tourists ("A rhythmic, rocking Cradle of Liberty no more: City corrals street artists at Faneuil Hall," Page A1, Aug. 1). I came to Boston 21 years ago and fell in love with places like Faneuil Hall, the Esplanade, and the Arboretum. They all have their own personality and, depending on your mood, you know just where to go. Faneuil Hall is about fun, high energy, crowds, and junk food. I won't be going back for a meal in a restaurant or a day of shopping until the performers come back full force. I might as well be at the mall. Yuck!
