WAS THERE a true Red Sox fan out there who doubted for even a fleeting moment that the team would defeat the Angels in four games or less? No, not a true fan. Why? Because a true fan has love, passion, and most of all, faith.

Let's review the Globe staff predictions for the American League Division Series that appeared in the Oct. 1 edition: Dan Shaughnessy, Angels in 5; Bob Ryan, Angels in 4; Nick Cafardo, Angels in 4; Tony Massarotti, Angels in 4; Adam Kilgore, Angels in 5; and the lone Amalie Benjamin, Red Sox in 5. Must be that woman's touch.

Well, so much for the pundits, who so often mistakenly rely more on numbers and intellect than their gut. Go Sox!
