YOUR OCT. 13 editorial "For whom the Pike tolls?" gave little to no voice to the people of Western Massachusetts. Governor Patrick was offered a soapbox from which to announce his plan of doing nothing about the current transportation debt. No matter how you move debt around, it doesn't go away. So it's time to take off the blurry goggles, governor. Your big idea of consolidating the transportation debt is just a way to buy time before raising tolls and annoying drivers in the western part of the state.

As responsible drivers of Massachusetts, we all need to come together to realize that increasing the gasoline tax is the only way to a solution. This will ensure that all drivers bear the responsibility for assisting with the whopping balance due.
