As Election Day approaches
JOHN ADAMS, our second president and the first to inhabit the White House, wrote the following in a letter to his wife, Abigail, on Nov. 2, 1800:
"I pray heaven to bestow the best of blessings on this house and all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise men ever rule under this roof."
As we all know, history can attest that many of our past presidents have fallen short since these words were written.
As we do our civic duty and vote on Nov. 4, let us all dwell on President Adams's words. They are far more important today than ever before.
