A REMINDER, as the Globe Spotlight Team looks at Partners HealthCare ("A healthcare system badly out of balance"): Partners has taken a leadership role in sharing the wealth by giving back through investments in community health for many of Greater Boston's poorer neighborhoods. Massachusetts General Hospital's health centers in Revere, Chelsea, and Charlestown and Brigham and Women's Hospital's centers in Jamaica Plain are models for easy access and quality primary care for vulnerable families who otherwise would have to rely on the more expensive emergency rooms and outpatient departments of the teaching hospitals.

Both the Brigham and MGH connect patients who need a primary care physician to their own, and other, health centers so that these patients can receive comprehensive care in the most cost-effective setting.

Over the years we have found Partners to be good partners to the health centers and to the many patients who depend on us for services. As the Globe moves forward with its expose, please look at the broader picture of where some of the profits are diverted.
