Firearms welcome

YOU KNOW, until you brought it up, I didn't even know there were restrictions to firearms in national parks (Short Fuse, Dec. 11). I would love to see whoever wrote this editorial spend a night or two, unarmed, where there are bears the size of trucks, alligators who love fresh meat, and packs of wolves. Better yet, send the editorial writer with a permitted gun owner who, at minimum, would be a comfort, and at maximum, could be a hero when wildlife got a bit too close.

That gun owner would also be welcome in some of our cities - for example, Boston.
