YOUR ARTICLE "Different takes on Green Line's new tracks," regarding the planned Green Line expansion, finally takes on the issue of the massive redevelopment plans in Somerville that affect Medford and its neighborhoods. We disagree, however, on the impression the article leaves that this is an issue of "old" Medford (meaning the elderly) vs. the "newcomers." If a broader sample of Medford had been contacted, the reporter would have found concern from both native and new Medfordites, young and old, on the issue of eminent domain that the state is proposing.

As a grass-roots organization, Green Line Advisory Group for Medford supports public transit. Yet we wonder, in light of the recent flurry of Globe articles on the MBTA and its threat to cut services on the very line it intends to expand, why the Globe is not questioning the whole cost of this expansion project. There should be a call for a delay in this expansion until the MBTA develops financial strategies that bring sustainability in public transit. It only makes sense in the face of massive budget cuts that we not throw money into a black hole until solutions are found for public transit.
