JAMES CARROLL slaps American servicemen and women in the face by stating that the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan are failures. I attempted to examine his op-ed objectively, yet I was taken aback by phrases such as "Bible-thumping," "Christian Zionism," "Christian zealotry," and "Bush-era loopiness." Sadly, this is what I'd expect from a good portion of America's left-wingers: that they can't let go of the past, even when a new commander in chief is in office, and will seize any opportunity to climb back on the battered and tired "I hate Bush" bandwagon.
