I HAVE read letters in the Globe about the desire for print media as opposed to Internet news. I am 56 years old. I remember when the Globe had two daily editions. I get the paper every morning, and find it hard to imagine not receiving it. I also view news online, both at boston.com and cnn.com. I so prefer the print media that I do not mind paying increased subscription fees.

Which brings me to Monday's vote of the Boston Newspaper Guild ("Globe union votes no: Paper declares impasse, slashes wages 23 percent," Page A1, June 9). I don't understand. Has this union decided that we should no longer have a print media? Are they so cocky that they feel they will win a court action to prevent the New York Times Co. from instituting its proposed changes? And if it all falls apart, where are all these people going to find jobs? At other newspapers? Please. Wake up. Times have changed, and your union seems out of touch. Please don't make me read the Herald!
