KUDOS TO the Globe for its pieces on ensuring that people with disabilities have equal access to general healthcare. For too long, people with disabilities have been overtreated for their disabilities and undertreated for everything else. If a woman dies unnecessarily of breast cancer, it does not matter that she used a wheelchair all of her life. Medical professionals, regardless of specialty or interest, must recognize that people with disabilities will be an ordinary part of their patient base. As a disability rights activist, I am delighted with the space the Globe is devoting to this issue.
