RE “BOSTON’S unruly riders’’: I commute by bike to the Longwood area almost every day, year round. Trust me, going by bike is easily the best way to get around Boston. At the risk of angering fellow bike riders, I would love to see the Boston Police Department enforce traffic (and sidewalk) laws for bicyclists. Motorists need to understand that the law clearly says that bikes belong on the road.

However, the reality is that Boston is not going to be a bike-friendly city, cyclists are not going to get respect, and new riders will not come out, until those of us who are riding in Boston stop being viewed as a rogue element on the road.

Same road. Same rules. They should be enforced.
