RE “TIRED of awaiting payoff on Greenway’’ (Op-ed, Aug. 14): I could not disagree with Renée Loth more as to the future development of that relatively short (10-minute) walk from South Station to Christopher Columbus Park. A “desert’’ in the city? Ridiculous. It’s one strip of sunlight out from the shadows of the hotels and aquarium on one side, and the markets and soaring financial buildings on the other. There’s ample food, drink , and visitor services on both sides, which are easily reached by regularly cycled pedestrian lights. In all the growing commercialism along the waterfront, that walkway is, indeed, an oasis that is greatly enjoyed by my family (including young grandkids who absolutely love that fountain and carousel) and many others. Let’s hope that greenway stays as it is.
