RE “2 tribes object to Cape Wind turbines’’ (Page A1, Oct. 26): The latest effort to derail the proposed wind farm in Nantucket Sound is remarkable and depressing. It is remarkable that the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound has found a way to outdo itself in the cynicism and hypocrisy department, and depressing that the Aquinnah and Mashpee Wampanoag tribes - who say that wind turbines in the sound would disturb their spiritual sun greetings - see it as in their best interest to join in this narrow, shortsighted effort.

The risks of increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide are real, and wind power is a promising way to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions. What better way to greet the sun?
