I DON’T know if it’s because I’m from South America, where there are more people in need than here, but I was shocked to read in the Globe and to see on TV that parents throw all the Halloween candy in the garbage if they don’t want their kids eating it (“The cure for Halloween hangover,’’ Sam Allis, The Observer, Nov. 1). I think that with so many people hungry in the world, it doesn’t make sense to throw any food in the trash.
A lot of countries could use more calories in their diet, even if it’s chocolate.
