RE “COURT OK’s corporate campaign spending’’ (Page A1, Jan. 22): With Thursday’s Supreme Court decision to grant corporations the free speech rights of an individual, those same corporations should bare the same responsibilities as an individual. If a corporation commits a crime, those responsible for the decision should bare the punishment. If that means putting the boards of directors in jail, so be it. If it means putting them on death row, so be it. If it means seizing all of their properties in the event of bankruptcy, so be it. If it means following the same bankruptcy laws that individuals are subject to, so be it. If it means going to jail for life by having “three strikes,’’ so be it.

If corporations have the same rights as individuals, then it is about time for them to play by the same set of rules. Perhaps this may end up making the corporations responsible for their actions, just like you and me. Imagine that.
