JONATHAN SARNA’S remarks about J Street (“Newton synagogue cancels talk by critic of Israel,’’ Metro, Nov. 17) reflect an increasingly disturbing current in the organized Jewish community’s approach to peace between Israel and Palestine. Sarna’s suggestion that J Street is “a Trojan horse for anti-Israel activists’’ because it has received funding from George Soros is ridiculous. The record of J Street’s actions and its leaders speaks for itself: This is an organization that cares passionately about and works tirelessly for the future of Israel as a Jewish democratic state. Sarna, as one of the leading Jewish intellectuals in Greater Boston and one of the leading Jewish historians in America, should know better.
