DOLORES BELL (“Feeling insecure after patdown,’’ Letters, Nov. 28) said she was “outraged’’ that her breasts were examined at Logan Airport. I wondered whether she ever had her breasts examined by a doctor?

I too have had my privates cupped at Logan. In fact, since 9/11, I’ve also been cupped at airports in Florida and elsewhere because I have a pacemaker. Recently at Logan I didn’t get cupped. Instead, they put me through the new machine. I did ask if it would kill me, since I had a pacemaker. They assured me it wouldn’t.

I have voluntarily had my body cupped, patted, and otherwise invaded — by doctors — because I wanted to extend my life as long as possible. I see little difference between what occurs at medical establishments and what happens at airports, especially in this day and age. Both activities are attempting to extend life.
