REGARDING THE regrets expressed by US Representative Michael E. Capuano after his call for union members to “get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary,’’ I am appalled that the Globe would refer to his statement as an apology (“Capuano apologizes for ‘bloody’ comment,’’ Metro, Feb. 24).

There was no apology here, only lame excuses about his passion for his causes. Passion is the new explanation for thuggery. It’s a prettier and more dramatic word, perhaps, but it’s still thuggery.
