Modified bikes’ roar is nothing but showing off

BRAVO TO Scot Lehigh for taking on the Boston Police Department’s apparent refusal to enforce the laws on noise (“Baffled: Boston has a motorcycle noise ordinance. So why isn’t it enforced?’’ Op-ed, July 15). There is no excuse for illegal, modified loud pipes. As a motorcycle rider of many years, I have heard other riders say that loud pipes save lives. Hogwash. The reason guys modify their pipes is that they want to show off, to the detriment of all.
