I READ this month that the senior senator from our state has been named to the congressional committee charged with reducing our deficit by over $1 trillion (“Kerry chosen for debt deal’s key panel,’’ Page A1, Aug. 10).
This is the man who blames the Standard & Poor’s downgrade on the Tea Party, not on the president and his fellow Democrats.
The Wall Street Journal reported recently that “the national debt was $10 trillion when President Obama was inaugurated and is expected to be $15.5 trillion at the end of the year.’’ This is an increase of more than 50 percent over three years.
Let me remind Senator Kerry that another small group of Tea Party activists, doing their work not far from his home on Louisburg Square, helped launch our country’s revolution. The reason: high taxes and lack of representation.
