RE “MENINO has doubts about Warren’’ (Metro, Sept. 2): As usual, our populist, unabashed, refreshingly honest Mayor Menino is right. His willingness to say what a lot of us have been thinking about the Democrats’ inability to put forth a viable challenger to Senator Scott Brown certainly gives voice to my own concerns and frustrations.

As an engaged observer of the local political scene, I had never heard of Warren until she began thinking about thinking about the possibility of establishing an exploratory committee. Brown is a social phenomenon, not an intellectual thesis. Warren is better suited to the academy; we need someone in the race who can win.

Hey, Mr. Mayor, what are you doing next year?
