Globe puts its own spin on candidate’s Citadel speech

THE FRONT-PAGE headline in the Globe declares, “Romney vows vast military growth’’ (Oct. 8). During his foreign policy speech at The Citadel, former Massachusetts governor and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney did indeed pledge that as president he would build up and restore America’s military strength, but nowhere did he use the word “vast.’’ That word is an editorial addition. The headline wording is the paper’s interpretation that belongs on your editorial page, not on Page A1.
