We are the champions
Back in 1986, when I was a senior in high school/freshman in college, the Red Sox and the Patriots both played for the championship and the Celtics won their second title in 3 years... and we all thought that was a good year. Ha!
Over at his blog today, Newton's own Seth Mnookin -- a contributing editor at Vanity Fair and author of "Feeding the Monster," a 2006 book that analyzed how the Red Sox organization finally got its act together and won a world championship -- notes that Boston's four pro sports teams -- the Red Sox (11-3), Patriots (11-0), Celtics (20-2), and Bruins (18-11-3) -- are a combined 60-19-3 since October 1. That's a whopping .732 winning percentage.
Take the Bruins out of the equation, Mnookin goes on to point out, and the three first-place teams are a combined 42-5, which means approximately 9 wins for every 10 games.
Awesome! And not a single steroid abuser in the bunch...
