Sorry I Missed Your Party
"I love the Internet," my friend Rick said to me, last night, at Fenway Park. The Red Sox batters were in the process of not backing up Josh Beckett's stellar outing, and we were trying to take our minds off the pain.

"Before the Internet," he continued, "someone could have put together a funny collection of depressing party photos, like the ones at Sorry I Missed Your Party...."
"Or photos of attractive young women with horrifying male companions," I interrupted. (I didn't use those exact words, but the name of the website to which I was referring is too vulgar for Brainiac.)
"Right," said Rick. "But it would have taken a year or more to gather the photos in one place. Now, these collections practically assemble themselves."

I love the Internet, too, for the same reason. Thanks, Internet, for being so awesome!
Still, as previously announced, this is my last week as a Globe blogger. I'm going to spend less time on the Internet, at least for the next few months. I might even read some books.
This week, I'm going to go through the large pile of excellent-looking books I've received this spring, and let you know my summer reading recommendations...
