Bigthink at the Atlantic

Posted by Christopher Shea July 10, 2008 03:18 PM

The Atlantic's July-August issue -- the so-called Ideas issue -- is a meaty one, with pieces on how the Internet is affecting the minds of those of us who spend our days surfing (discussed by Josh Glenn on this very blog) and how federal housing policy may be contributing to a spike in violence in mid-sized cities.

On a somewhat breezier note, the magazine also offers, a bit prematurely perhaps, the "11 1/2 Biggest Ideas of the Year":

1.The Surge
2. Renting
3. Post-partisanship
4. Mass-Market Atheism
5. We Tortured
6. MySpace Politics
7. The Return of Regulation
8. Personal Genomics
9. Not Bombing Iran
10. Carbon Consciousness
11. The End of 9/11
11.5. It's Lonely at the Top

You can find mini-essays by Atlantic writers on those topics here. If you just want the punchline to 11.5, here's your link.
