posner.jpgAs I've reported, the federal judge Richard Posner will begin blogging in May on the economic crisis -- continuing, in a different medium, the narrative and analysis of his new book, "A Failure of Capitalism," also due out in May, ensuring that his book won't become instantly dated.

The Atlantic magazine saw an opportunity here. Harvard University Press, the publisher of "A Failure of Capitalism," has announced that Posner's blog will appear under the aegis of TheAtlantic.com -- already home to the popular bloggers Andrew Sullivan, Megan McArdle, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and (until he starts his New York Times column) Ross Douthat.

Lose Douthat, gain Posner. Not a bad trade, even even considering Douthat's talent.

A few years ago, under a different editorial regime, Posner wrote a front-of-the-book column for the Atlantic, but that experiment didn't pan out.

The blog will be interactive, with Posner responding to readers' questions about the economic crisis.
