Don Pettit might be my new favorite astronaut. He has a Ph.D in chemical engineering and an inquisitive disposition, and has been using household objects to create awesome physics demonstrations on board the International Space Station. Here he is demonstrating a really cool zero-gravity coffee cup:

And here's Pettit using a knitting needle to create neat-o 'orbiting' water droplets. It's not quite a mission to Mars, but I'll take what I can get.
