Wax Works

A smooth move for when winter gets to be an itch.

Having your body covered in hot wax may conjure up visions of Vincent Price, but it's actually a soothing dry-skin therapy in the hands of aesthetician Netta Brownell at the ISIS Holistic Clinic in Brookline. The hourlong session ($130) begins with a sauna and full-body exfoliation, then the skin is covered in a layer of soft, warm paraffin wax. After it sets, a technician peels the wax away, revealing skin that feels incredibly soft.
