THE FIND | BOSTON UNCOMMON
Mokeybiz sock monkeys all have spindly limbs, button eyes, and charming embroidered hearts, and most of them come in traditional brown, white, and red. But its the one-offs in other colors a claret cotton-cashmere blend with thick, hand-whipstitched electric-yellow trim, for example that even grown-up stuffed-animal fans will fall for. Creator Jay Page lives in Watertown, and the toys ($65) are sold at Oak, a high-end boutique in Back Bay that features handmade goods. He thinks of the pricey playthings as keepsakes: Page, who is 39, still has Mokey, the monkey his great-aunts made for him when he was 6 years old. Now thats cute.
