Summer parties are looking more like flower shows this season. As seen here at events around town, oversized blooms are sprouting up on bags, hats, hairdos, and lapels. When choosing real flowers as an accessory, heartier varieties are best in the hottest months, says Victoria Samuel, event designer at Winston Flowers in Boston. She recommends roses, cymbidium orchids, and miniature calla lilies, all of which come in a variety of sizes and vibrant colors. "Flowers open out of water," Samuel explains. "So start with a tight, full blossom." It can be your best bud all evening.
