I recently gave my friend Holly a check for my share of a baby shower gift. We both have active toddlers to chase around, and when she got home, she realized the check had fallen out of her jeans pocket. When I opened my mailbox to send off a new check, I found a letter with no return address. Inside was the missing check and a note: “I found this on the floor of Macy’s Department Store. I’m sure Holly is looking for it. Happy Holidays!” An act of kindness that started the season on a wonderful note!

. . . To Be Helpful It was 6 a.m. on Black Friday and I already had too many packages to carry. I met two sisters in line at the Lego Store at the Natick mall (I think their names were Joanne and Jill) who insisted on helping me carry my packages to my car, even though they weren’t ready to leave. Not all Black Friday shoppers are rude. Many thanks to my fellow early birds!
