Statement necklaces, it’s time to face facts: Earrings are giving you some sizable competition. “They’re larger, longer, and more intricate, but also very light,” says Don Carney, co-designer of Patch NYC, based in Boston. “Our earrings this season are Gypsy-inspired, combining a whole bunch of mixed metals and multicolored beads that look like flea-market finds.” But because these styles are lacy and airy, they aren’t overpowering, Carney adds, especially when worn as the one focal-point accessory. “They’re unexpected, which is always interesting.” As seen here around town, the look is ear and now.
