This summer, fashions are showing an unflagging support for classic red, white, and blue. “There’s definitely a connection to Americana, especially companies where the items are made in the USA,” says Rob Skolnick, president of the E.A. Davis store in Wellesley. Spirited examples are star and/or stripe prints on casual sportswear, canvas shoes, bold ties, and dressy silk scarves. Skolnick says that there’s also a New England spin to the trend, such as American flag motifs inside whales or across maps of the Cape. As seen here around town, locals are loudly declaring their fashion independence.
