Where in the world is Patrots Nation?
In case you’re far from home on game day, here’s where they’re cheering on the Pats .
Alexandria, Virginia
Murphy’s Grand Irish Pub in the Old Town area of Alexandria has three distinct cheering sections: the End Zone, for the stand-up rowdies, the Fifty-Yard Line, near the fireplace, and the Cheap Seats -- the relatively quiet section. 713 King Street, 703-548-1717, http://www.murphyspub.com
Austin, Texas
Find Pats love in Cowboy country at B.D. Riley’s Irish Pub in Austin, which has nine HDTVs, including a 65-inch ”ScreenZilla” in the back room, where New England fans congregate. (Sometimes they take over the front, too.) 204 East 6th Street, 512-494-1335, http://www.bdrileys.com
Guaynabo, Puerto Rico
Sport your colors with pride at Shannan’s Pub in Guaynabo (not far from San Juan). The Patriots crowd tends to heckle Miami and Indy fans, but the Pats fans can take it, too. Shannan’s can get packed with NFL fanatics, and once another team loses, it’s everyone else against the Pats. 98 Calle Acuarela, 787-287-8466, http://www.shannanspub.com
Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida
Whenever Miami hosts New England, Falmouth native and publican Dave Gadsby sells game tickets ($130 and up), wrangles buses so Pats fans can travel to Sun Life Stadium together, and organizes a pre-kickoff buffet for ticket holders from his restaurant and bar, The Village Grille and The Village Pump, a half block from the Atlantic in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Of course, any time the Pats are playing, the game is on at least one of the 10 screens at the bar. 4404 El Mar Drive, 954-776-5840, http://www.villagegrille.com
San Diego
Since opening in 2007, RT’s Longboard Grill has quickly become San Diego’s Patriots hot spot, probably because of the 5-by-9-foot projection screen and 14 televisions, all tuned to Boston sports. To get a seat, you need to show up early. On most Sundays there’s a line out the front door. 1466 Garnet Avenue, 858-270-4030, http://www.longboardgrill.com
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
The Saskatoon fan club typically gets together for games at a member’s house. According to Nathan Risling, a dedicated fan who made the 39-hour drive in 2008 with his fiancee to see a game at Foxborough, these gatherings, while not at a bar, typically involve ”a coffee table full of beer bottles.” To join this group or find another, go to http://www.patriots.com/fanzone/public. ![]()
