Wednesday CONTEST: Hellos and goodbyes
Did you think I'd forgotten about you today, loyal readers? Of course I hadn't. But instead of a Wednesday chat or conversational topic, I was planning to surprise you all with a contest, and I didn't get the details until this afternoon.
Here's the deal:
Central Square Theater is doing a production of Eugene O'Neill's "A Moon for the Misbegotten," running now through November 7. On Saturday, October 23, there will be a storytelling salon (called "SubText") before the show. Here's a description, from the theater itself:
Here's the deal. "Moon for the Misbegotten" is, among other things, a meditation on how people enter and leave our lives. So I want to hear your stories about memorable hellos and goodbyes. I have two pairs of tickets for the October 23 performance, and I'll give them to the best hello or goodbye stories I get.
If you have a good story, but either can't make the performance on the 23rd, or are unwilling to read or tell your story in public, you can still leave a comment, but please let me know you're not up for the contest.
The show starts at 8:00 pm, and the SubText event will begin at 6:45. We'll drink, we'll tell stories, we'll refresh ourselves, we'll see a play and think about how it resonates with our own lives, and those of our neighbors. And maybe afterward we'll go out for another drink. O'Neill can be like that.
Tell me your stories! (Oh, and of course I'll be there that night, too. I have a good story to tell about the last time I said goodbye to my father of blessed memory.)
UPDATE: Whoops! I forgot to say that the winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 20, right after my chat.
AND THE WINNERS ARE .... all three folks who entered: DJDIG, jrdunn, and kwajalinda. With only three entrants, I can hardly bring myself to leave one of you out in the cold. E-mail me and I'll get your tickets arranged.

... a new program that creates conversation around and personal connections with the Central Square Theater’s mainstage productions. The series began in September with a round of academic horror stories shared after a performance of Truth Values: One Girl’s Romp Through MIT’s Male Math Maze. The success of the evening inspired the development of the ongoing series and its title. Featuring a roster of different hosts, SubText will recur throughout the season.
