Look at this, folks -- someone requested your advice specifically:
I have a question for the Miss Conduct readers: how do I respond politely but succinctly to people who comment that I am too quiet? I am a rather shy & quiet person and it bothers me when I'm put on the spot in such an uncomfortable manner. I wish I could express to people how much worse it makes me feel when my quietness is mentioned, but I don't want to be rude when I reply.
What do you think? Since this was a request for your advice, and not mine, I won't do a response this Friday. But come back throughout the week for more news and musings about social behavior -- and the Ig Nobel Prizes, which will be awarded this Thursday!
