LEBANON, N.H. - The sports information director at Dartmouth College for the last 24 years has died.

Kathleen Phillips, known as Kathleen Slattery until her marriage in 2005, died yesterday in Lebanon after a brief illness. She was 55.

Mrs. Phillips was responsible for all communications related to media coverage of Dartmouth's 34 varsity athletic teams.

She reported on 305 consecutive Dartmouth football games.

"The Dartmouth community is terribly saddened by Kathy's passing," said James Wright, president of the college.

"What a tragedy. Kathy brought energy and enthusiasm and professionalism to everything she did," he said. "She cared deeply about student athletes, the coaches, and the Dartmouth athletic programs."

Mrs. Phillips was also an accomplished golfer.

In 1988, she won the New Hampshire state women's championship.
