VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. - Philomena Gotti, the mother of late Gambino crime boss John Gotti, has died at age 96.

The death was confirmed by Charles Carnesi, a lawyer for her grandson John "Junior" Gotti.

Newsday, which reported the death on its website, cited relatives as saying she died of natural causes at her home in Valley Stream, Long Island, on Tuesday night. Mrs. Gotti died one day before her grandson was due in federal court in Florida on racketeering charges.
