Robert L. Krechevsky, 86, federal judge in Connecticut

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Federal Judge Robert L. Krechevsky, who served in Connecticut's US Bankruptcy Court for 30 years, has died.
He was 86.
Judge Krechevsky, who retired in August, died Thursday at his home in West Hartford, according to a newspaper obituary prepared by his family.
President Carter appointed him as a bankruptcy judge in 1978.
Judge Krechevsky was born in Hartford and graduated from Yale College in 1943. After college, he served in the Army Air Corps in World War II for three years.
He got his law degree from the University of Connecticut after the war.
And then he started a law firm with Samuel Gould and a future lieutenant governor of Connecticut, Robert Killian.
Judge Krechevsky oversaw many notable cases, including the collapse of Colonial Realty in 1990.
