►BYRD, Richard E. - In Berryville, Va., Sunday, at 86. The brother of US Senator Harry Byrd Jr. and son of former US Senator Harry Byrd Sr., Mr. Byrd was a prominent orchardist.
►FORBES, Mary Lou - In Alexandria, Va., Saturday, at 83. A longtime Washington Times commentary editor, Ms. Forbes earned a Pulitzer Prize for her reporting on Virginia’s civil rights struggles in 1959.
