LONDONDERRY, Vt. - State Representative Rick Hube of Londonderry died Monday while visiting his sister in Florida, Patti Komline, Vermont’s House Republican leader, said yesterday.

He was 62.

Komline said she was speaking with Representative Hube on the phone shortly before he was taken to the hospital for a pain in his leg.

He later died of an aortic aneurysm.

Representative Hube was first elected in 1998, at least partly in reaction to the passage of the state’s education funding law, which was known at the time as Act 60.

Representative Hube was one of five Republicans to vote this year for same-sex marriage, and he cosponsored legislation seeking to allow physician-assisted death.

Komline said there are tentative plans to hold a memorial service on Representative Hube’s birthday, Jan. 31.
