LOS ANGELES - Beatrice Gersh, who helped establish the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, died Sunday of natural causes at her Los Angeles home, relatives say. She was 87.
Ms. Gersh was the widow of Hollywood talent agent Phil Gersh, who died in 2004. The couple started collecting art in the 1950s and joined supporters to found the Museum of Contemporary Art in 1979.
Beatrice Gersh and her husband donated 13 significant pieces from their collection to the museum.
Museum director Jeffrey Deitch said Ms. Gersh was one of the museum’s most important and beloved patrons. He says the museum will mount a memorial exhibition to showcase the couple’s gifts.
