An inspiring coach and mentor to track and field athletes at Northeastern University for 41 seasons, Joseph J. Donahue coached three men and three women to become All-Americans in the hammer throw. He also coached Boris Djerassi, Northeastern’s only NCAA national champion, to the 1975 title in the event. As an undergraduate at the university, he excelled in the early 1960s, setting records in the hammer throw.
