Mary Hunt Kahlenberg, a curator and collector of native textiles whose exhibition on Navajo blankets, organized at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 1972, broke with tradition by presenting Navajo weaving as fine art, died Oct. 27 at her home in Santa Fe, N.M. She was 71. Kahlenberg led the costume and textile department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art when she organized “The Navajo Blanket’’ with Anthony Berlant, an artist, collector and dealer.
