Rene A. Morel, a world-renowned surgeon whose clients had names like Perlman, Zukerman and Ma and whose patients had names like Stradivari, Guarneri and Amati, died Wednesday in Wayne, N.J. He was 79. The cause was cancer, according to a spokesman for Tarisio Fine Instruments and Bows, the New York auction house at which Morel maintained his shop. For decades, Morel reigned as one of the world’s master luthiers.
