Guiding projects that defined the city’s skyline and suburbs, Hank Spaulding learned how to be one of Boston’s best developers but knew there was more to know. So when he retired in his 50s, Mr. Spaulding went to his alma mater, MIT, with a groundbreaking plan: Create the first graduate program to train real estate developers. Mr. Spaulding died Thanksgiving morning. He was 84 and lived in Kennebunk, Maine.
